How Musical Memories Today was created...
Tonya (Fobbe)Webster was born in northern Kentucky and raised a great portion of her life on the beaches of VA. and NC. As a young child Tonya very much enjoyed photography. Never wanting pictures of herself but always wanting to take pictures of others. Her father paid for a monthly subscription to a photography magazine and gifted her a camera that she used until it no longer worked. In NC where she spent her teenage years growing up and attending jr.high, Tonya was in both band as well as chorus and has all her life been passionate of music. Although she enjoyed taking photos, chorus, and band she knew that she wasn't at all talented enough to take her interest in either to professional levels but has never lost sight of her passions. She has worked for many companies as a means to support herself and her children. From a T-Shirt shop on the strip to a server in a well known restaurant to lower level management in retail. Moving back to her birth state, she studied hard and earned her GED and then attended Thomas More collage for a short period, studying in the nursing field. During collage tough times caused Tonya to choose between her education and her children. Being a young, single mother, choosing her children forced her to work for other companies and never successfully profiting from her dedication and sacrifice to said company. At 26, with three small children she was married, three months after the birth of her fourth daughter. Her and her husband decided Tonya should stay home and be with their children, two of which are special needs children. Tonya honestly felt contented with becoming a stay at home mother but after a while began contemplating what it was she wanted out of life. She asked her self this:"Being a mother is amazing and comes with priceless rewards but what comes when my children are grown and start their own life? What will I do then?" The answer soon comes.
In February 2009 Tonya was presented with the opportunity to create a video montage of her grandmothers successes and have it presented at her grandmothers retirement celebration. (A Video montage is a video that combines photographs and video choreographed to music with transitions). She created this montage with Windows Movie Maker, a standard video editing program that came pre-installed on her desk top. A program she was familiar with and had played with only a hand full of times. Creating this montage of two hundred or so photographs and the cutting and mixing music, with out professional software, was not easy for and was the largest project she had ever attempted. But she realized that she loved it! She was afforded the opportunity to see photographs and learn memorable family history she may other wise never had the opportunity to. As well as be creative with the two most enjoyable elements in life: photography and music. This video was an extremely cherished gift by her grandmother and enjoyed by all who were in attendance at the event.
By June 2009 Tonya began the process of building her business from her home. From researching other business alike to purchasing professional software and materials needed to offer her services to other families and creating a blog site named Musical Memories Keepsake Dezine. By July 2009 her website www.musicalmemoriestoday.com was launched to reach potential clients anywhere in the United States and providing the ability to purchase her packages online.
Tonya does not have any delusions as to the tough times the economy has faced this past year and the success rate of starting a business in the best of times can be tough but is hopeful that in-spite of it she will succeed. She believes in her self, her creative abilities, and every family's right to preserving their memories. She is the heart of her small, in home business and no matter how successful her company gets or doesn't all her clients will get the up most professional service with her heart and personal dedication poured into every piece, every project, every time.
